Directions by Train
From the Rome airport, walk across the pedestrian bridge in the direction of the car rental agencies. You will see signs for the train. You will take the train to Roma Termini, the main station in Rome, and then you will change trains and take the next train with the final destination of Florence (Firenze) stopping at Terontola/Cortona. It is best to buy an all-inclusive ticket at the counter inside the airport rather than stand in line again at the main station in Rome. Ask for the most direct train, as there are several types, some taking as much as 2 and a half hours, and some taking only 1 hour and a half. For the faster trains you will have to pay an additional "supplimento" fee. If you do not specify that you will take the fast train, they will charge you for the cheapest ticket, and then while on your train to Terontola, the ticket master will make you pay the "supplimento". You will arrive on the far end of the station and will have to walk for about 10 minutes to the other platforms for the next train. There are carts available to help with your luggage. Upon arrival at the station in Terontola there usually will be a taxi at the main entrance. If not, walk across the street to Caffe' Degli Sportivi. The owner of the caffe' is also the owner of the taxi service, Roberto Iacomi. The taxi's in Terontola should all know the house Sant'Andrea, if not tell them to pass the Campo Sportivo on Via Farinaio and then there will be signs to S. Andrea ahead on the side of the road.
